David O. Russell's upcoming flick about the late 1970's FBI is called "American Hustle."
Russell's latest project is currently in production and brings back "Silver Linings Playbook" actors Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro. Also on the cast are Christian Bale and Amy Adams, as well as Jeremy Renner, Jack Huston, Louis CK, and Michael Pena.
The film—which was previously rumored to have been titled "American Bull****"—is inspired on the FBI's Abscam sting, which led to convictions on bribery and corruption charges for a senator and five members of the U.S. House of Representatives in the late 1970's. However, sources have noted that the film is not based on the specific events of the case.
"American Hustle" is slated for nationwide release on Christmas Day 2014.
