"Orphan Black," the conspiracy thriller series, has been picked up for a second season ahead of its season one finale by BBC America. Season one ends on June 1, while the second season begins in 2014.
"Tatiana Maslany has delivered one of the year's standout performances," BBC exec Perry Simon said in a statement announcing the news.
The program centers on Sarah (Maslany), whose life changes after she witnesses the suicide of a woman who looks exactly like her. Sarah steals the woman's identity, her boyfriend and her bank account. Eventually her actions lead to the discovery that she and the dead woman are clones.
"Orphan Black" also stars Maria Doyle Kennedy ("Dexter"), Jordan Gavaris ("Degrassi"), Dylan Bruce ("As The World Turns"), Kevin Hanchard ("The Listener") and Michael Mando ("Make Your Move").
