Portugal Inflation Eases In April

Portugal's annual rate of inflation, as measured by the harmonized index of consumer prices, eased to 0.4 percent in April from 0.7 percent in March, data from Statistics Portugal showed Monday.

The annual inflation rate measured by the consumer prices decreased to 0.2 percent from 0.5 percent in March. This was also below the 0.4 percent inflation expected.

The core inflation, that excludes energy and unprocessed food products, was 0.3 percent, unchanged from the previous month.

In April, CPI remained flat on a monthly basis following a 1.7 percent increase in March. This compares with 0.2 percent increase forecast.

The HICP rose 0.1 percent, decelerating from 1.7 percent increase in the previous month.
