San Diego Police Say Arrested Bank Robber Is Not 'Geezer Bandit'

Authorities in San Diego say a man they arrested following a bank robbery earlier this month is not the same thief that is wanted in the "Geezer Bandit" robberies. Dale Jenkins, 78, was picked up shortly after robbing the Comerica Bank on Rosecrans Street on Monday, reports NBC San Diego.

Though Jenkins also fit the unlikely profile as an elderly bank robber, San Diego police say he's not the same man who robbed at least 16 banks between 2009 and 2011. That thief, dubbed the Geezer Bandit but local officials, is still at large.

Jenkins, however, was spotted soon after robbing the bank as he was wearing the same three-piece suit worn during the robbery and wheeling a suitcase down the street. According to nbcsandiego.com, he threatened tellers at the bank, claiming he would throw acid on them.

Thus far San Diego police have been stumped by the Geezer Bandit case, prompting theories that it may be a younger thief wearing a mask.
