Tata Motors April Group Global Sales Drops By 7%

Tata Motors Ltd. reported April global sales, including Jaguar Land Rover, of 81,241 vehicles, down by seven percent from the 87,377 units a year earlier.

Of the total sales, commercial vehicle (Tata, Tata Daewoo and the Tata Hispano Carrocera range) were 39,969 nos., compared to 38,008 units in April 2012, a growth of five percent, while passenger cars accounted for 41,272, lower by 16 percent from the 49,369 units sold in April last year.

For the month under review, sales of its Jaguar Land Rover, which Tata purchased for $2.3 billion in 2008, stood at 28,874 units, a rise of around 14 percent from the 25,413 units sold in last April.

Jaguar sales for the month rose by 48 percent to 5,334 units from the 3,603 units in last April, while Land Rover sales were 23,540 vehicle, up by nine percent from the 21,540 units for the same month last year..

AT the BSE, Tata Motors closed Wednesday's trading trading at Rs.308.40, up 2.63 percent from the previous close.
