TSX Down At Open Wednesday

Bay Street stocks opened lower Wednesday amid selling in commodities, with the S&P/TSX Composite Index losing 75.18 points or 0.60 percent to 12, 501.87.

The Diversified Materials Index was down close to 2 percent, with First Quantum Minerals (FM.TO) and Teck Resources (TCK_B.TO) losing around 2 percent each.

In the oil patch, Vermilion Energy (VET.TO) and Canadian Natural Resources (CNQ.TO) lost around 1 percent each.

Innergex Renewable Energy (INE.TO) was down 0.50 percent after slipping into the red in first-quarter.

Among gold stocks, Agnico-Eagle Mines (AEM.TO), Goldcorp. (G.TO) and Barrick Gold (ABX.TO) were down around 2 percent each.

On the other hand, Gold miner Centamin plc (CEE.TO) jumped over 7 percent after reporting higher first-quarter profit.
