Texas Police Arrest Four In $1.6 Million Marijuana Bust

Authorities in Irving, Texas arrested four men for possessing approximately 1,700 pounds of marijuana.

Local television station WFAA reports that the Irving Police Special Investigations Section received an anonymous tip that a U-Haul truck containing a large amount of marijuana was parked somewhere within the city's limits.

"While investigators were conducting surveillance on the truck, a vehicle dropped off a male who got into the truck and drove away," says a media release from the police department. "Officers were able to stop the U-Haul for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, a narcotics detection K-9 alerted to the vehicle while walking around the outside of the truck."

When officers searched the truck, they found approximately 100 boxes of marijuana with a reported street value of $1.6 million.

The four arrested were Laurencio Hernandez Jr., 44, Juan Luis Rangel, 36, Jose Alberto Flores, 25, and Oscar Hernandez, 21. They have all been charged with possession of marijuana under 2,000 pounds.
