A would-be car thief foiled his own plans when he accidentally butt-dialed 911 earlier this month, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Carson Rinehart and Nathan Teklemariam were about to break into cars when a 911 dispatcher picked up a call from one of the suspect's cell phones. After realizing what they were talking about doing, the dispatcher sent out officials to the location as he continued to listen to the rest of the plot, including what they were going to steal.

Later during the call, the dispatcher heard glass break and then talk of being chased by police. They were taken into custody with a pair of stolen prescription medications, socket keys and other items.

The two were put in jail on suspicion of burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of stolen property; they could face more jail time based on their records.
