Confidence among Danish consumers improved slightly in May, according to a report published by Statistics Denmark on Wednesday.
The consumer confidence index rose to -2.6 in May from -2.8 in April. Households appeared to be positive about their own financial situation, but was less optimistic on the prospects of the general economy.
The indicator measuring consumers' opinion about their financial situation at present compared to a year ago rose to -2.7 in May from -4.6 in April. Their expectations for family finances in one year's time improved with the corresponding measure edging up to 9.6 from 9.5 in April.
Households' assessment of Denmark's present economic situation was less upbeat with the relevant indicator falling to -9.2 from -8.2 in April. The index reflecting consumers' economic outlook dropped to 5.2 from 7.6 in the previous month.
