A British Columbia woman has been arrested after backing her pickup truck over a mother and her two children, who were sleeping in a tent at a campsite. CTV reports that the kids, aged 18 months and three years, suffered minor injuries, while their mother, Shyane Cooper, was more seriously injured.

Police told the Vancouver Sun that the woman who's been arrested was having an argument with her boyfriend, leading to her hasty and careless driving.

Other campers helped pull the family from under the truck, and took them to a local health care facility for treatment. Cooper is in stable condition and was able to talk to the CBC of the harrowing experience:

"I sat up and I seen the lights of the back of the truck and I heard the truck accelerate."

She added that she got the children out of the way, subsequently putting herself in danger:

"My boyfriend was trying to pull me out from under it, but I was completely stuck. He had to get someone to jump back in the truck and take it off of me."

The driver of the truck could face a charge of dangerous driving, an officer told the CBC.
