Michael Jackson Wanted Conrad Murray As Tour Doctor, AEG Exec Says

Paul Gongaware, an executive for AEG, says that Michael Jackson asked for Dr. Conrad Murray to accompany him on his farewell This Is It tour.

Jackson's family is suing AEG for negligence in hiring Murray, and, should the jury buy Gongaware's story, it may be less inclined to award them the large settlement they seek.

"He came up to me and said he wanted to take Dr. Murray to London as his personal physician," Gongaware said on the stand, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Gongaware listed a number of tour decisions over which Jackson personally had control, including scheduling and even the details of Murray's contract. He added that no background check was made on Murray because he was already Jackson's doctor.

"It was not my place to say who his doctor was going to be. It was his decision," said Gongaware, according to ABC News.

Murray was convicted of involuntary manslaughter in MJ's 2009 death.
