Jason Aldean and Lenny Kravitz hit the stage together to open the 2013 CMT Music Awards this week. The event was held on Wednesday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville and found the pair jamming on a cover of the rock classic "American Woman." Jason later went on to host the show with actress Kristen Bell.
During the performance, the pair traded verses and backed each other singing unison sections and harmonies.
Critics have given the unexpected collaboration a big thumbs up with TheBoot.com noting that Aldean's voice was "a surprisingly good fit for the track, matching his range well."
Lenny wasn't the only crossover artist to perform at the event, as rapper Nelly hit the stage with Florida Georgia Line for a cover of their track "Cruise."
