Brian Johnson, lead singer of AC/DC, will add his talents to Sting's upcoming album, The Last Ship - the first album of original material in ten years from the former Police fronter.

The news was released via Johnson's publicist, who did not, however, add details on the extent or nature of Johnson's role.

The Last Ship was written by Sting while he worked on a new musical of the same time. The New York Times wrote that the plot, directed by Joe Mantello (Wicked), is "a homecoming story set against the backdrop of the decline of the shipbuilding industry in Newcastle during the 1980s."

Earlier this year, Cliff Williams, bass player for AC/DC, said that the band's guitarists — Angus and Malcolm Young — had been working on new material for the band. No official word has been announced regarding a new AC/DC album.
