Responding to press rumors published today, Spanish telecommunication group Telefónica S.A. (TEF,TDE.L) said Monday that it has not received any approach, nor any indication of interest, neither verbal nor in written form, from any party.
Earlier today, there were a report that the Spanish government had blocked a friendly takeover bid from AT&T Inc. (T) for some 70 billion euros or $93.5 billion and 52 billion euros in debt.
In view of the government's refusal, AT&T decided to abort its takeover plan on Telefonica, according to reports.
