A new documentary about the crash of TWA Flight 800 in 1996 has a group of whistle-blowers claiming that the explanation of the plane crash was wrong.

TWA flight 800 was headed to Paris from JFK airport in 1996 when it exploded shortly after takeoff killing everyone onboard. Originally, the cause of the crash was thought to be from an explosion in the plane's gas tank.

"..This team of investigators who actually handled the wreckage and victims' bodies, prove that the officially proposed fuel-air explosion did not cause the crash," reads a statement by the producers of the film. "They also provide radar and forensic evidence proving that one or more ordnance explosions outside the aircraft caused the crash."

The statement did not say what actually caused the explosion, however.

After the crash, the FBI held a 16-month long investigation and determined that there was no evidence showing the occurrence of a criminal act involved in the plane's crash.
