A seizure of methamphetamine in southwestern Michigan, reported to be the largest seizure in the state's history, has led to the conviction of five suspects.
MLive.com reports that in June of 2012, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security received a tip from an informant about a large amount of crystal meth being sold in the area.
Multiple undercover purchases were made of the drugs leading to a seizure of 20 pounds of crystal meth with an estimated street value of $500,000.
"This case prevented an extremely large amount of crystal meth from flooding our community," said U.S. Attorney Patrick Miles.
Of the five men convicted, four pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges, while the fifth man was found guilty of the conspiracy and possession with intent to distribute.
