Turkey's Jobless Rate Rises In July

Turkey's jobless rate increased to 9.3 percent in July from 8.4 percent in the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute reported Friday.

The number of unemployed increased by 363,000 to 2.68 million in July. At the same time, employment rose by 601,000 annually to 26.99 million.

On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate climbed to 10.1 percent from 9.7 percent in June. The youth unemployment rose further to 19.2 percent from 18.7 percent.
