UK House Prices Rise 0.5% In December - Hometrack

The average asking price for a house in the United Kingdom was up 0.5 percent in December compared to the previous month, property tracking website Hometrack said on Monday - after gaining 0.5 percent in November.

By region, house prices gained 0.1 percent in Yorkshire and Humberside and the north-west, 0.2 percent in Wales, 0.3 percent in the West Midlands and the south-west, 0.5 percent in East Anglia, 0.7 percent in the south-east and 1.0 percent in London.

House prices were unchanged in the east Midlands and the north-east.

On a yearly basis, house prices climbed 4.4 percent following the 3.8 percent increase in the previous month.

House prices in London surged 9.1 percent on year, while prices in the south-east jumped 5.0 percent and prices in the north lost 0.5 percent.
