Deana Carter has released her latest album, Southern Way of Life, via her own label, Little Nugget Records. Speaking with Billboard, Deana says that much of the album was inspired by the passing of her father and some health problems of her own:

"I lost my dad, and also went through some major surgeries on my spine and on my knee," she began.

"Now, I'm healthy and good, and healing through all of that, and have been writing songs. I'm glad I took the time personally to take care of myself and my family. Now, we have a record."

She also opened up to Nashville Gab, saying that it's good to be back in Music City doing what she does best:

"I love the community here and the music. I always have. Now, it's just teaming with so much positive stuff. When I come back, I'm running on adrenaline. It's so inspiring to come back and be part of it and have open arms, like I do. People are so kind to me and open-armed about seeing me back in town a lot."
