Dunkin' Donuts Says India Long-term Expansion On Track

Dunkin' Donuts, part of the Dunkin' Brands Group, Inc. (DNKN), said Friday that it is on track to meet its previously announced development target of 500 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in India over the long-term.

Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Brands owns, operates, and franchises quick-service restaurants under the Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin-Robbins brands worldwide.

Dunkin' Donuts noted that since signing its master franchise agreement with Jubilant FoodWorks in 2011, it has opened 36 Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in 12 cities across India, including its newest location that opened Thursday in the South Indian city of Bangalore.

The company added that with this latest restaurant opening, it now has a presence in three of India's most significant urban markets, Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

John Varughese, Vice President of Dunkin' Brands India, Middle East and Southeast Asia, said, "We are pleased with the development progress we've made across India over the past few years with our master franchisee Jubilant FoodWorks. Since opening our first restaurants in New Delhi in 2012, we've expanded our presence to a number of other cities across India, including Mumbai, Gurgaon and Punjab."

Dunkin' Donuts restaurants in India serve beverages, sandwiches and baked goods, including Dunkin' Donuts' signature Original Blend coffee.

The brand also serves regional products that cater to local tastes. These include the Wicked Wrap, which features marinated spicy chicken tenders and nachos wrapped in a multigrain tortilla, and Spiked Iced Tea, which is freshly brewed iced tea splashed with sweet and exotic spices.

DNKN closed Thursday's trading at $46.91, up $0.39 or 0.84 percent on a volume of 950,609 shares.
