Austria July Trade Deficit Narrows

Austria's trade deficit for July narrowed from a year ago as exports grew and imports declined, data from Statistics Austria showed Wednesday.

The visible trade deficit fell to EUR 38.31 million from EUR billion in the same month last year. Exports rose 0.3 percent annually, while imports dropped 6.7 percent.

Shipments to the EU countries grew 1.6 percent and those to the non-EU countries rose 0.3 percent.

In the January to July, trade deficit was EUR 1.60 billion versus EUR 2.39 billion in the same period last year. Exports grew 1.2 percent annually and imports edged up 0.1 percent.
