South Korea Consumer Confidence Rises In May

Consumer sentiment in South Korea ticked higher in May, the latest survey from the Bank of Korea showed on Tuesday, with an index score of 105.0, up from 104.0 in April.

Consumer sentiments on current living standards was up by one point than in April at 93, and for their future outlook was two points higher than in the previous month at 102.

Consumer sentiment regarding current domestic economic conditions gained two points compared to April at 79, and that for their future outlook was unchanged at 91.

Consumer sentiment on prospective changes in household income remained unchanged at 101, while that on expected spending was one point higher than the previous month at 107.

The expectation for inflation over the following year was 2.5 percent. The survey was conducted among 2,200 households between May 11 and 18.
