The Red Hot Chili Peppers say they are nearing completion on a new album. During a recent radio interview, bassist Flea said that the core music for the album has been complete for some time now, but they are waiting for Anthony Kiedis to add in his vocal parts.

Flea also made recent headlines when he explained that he no longer has a passion for his former favorite bands, the Police. He made the admission on comic Marc Maron's podcast WTF.

"You know it's funny for me, I like him fine, he's great, but it's a weird thing for me," Flea said. "When I was young I loved The Police. Around the time when I started playing rock bass too, I really loved The Police, but it's the one band that just - and it's really the only band, like any band I listen to, I go put on the record, and I love it as much as when I was 15 or 20 or whenever. But I put on The Police, and I got the greatest hits, and I finally [went to] put it on."

He added, "For me he's one of those guys, he's a really good musician, without a doubt. He's a great musician, he's willing to try lots of different stuff. It's just, I don't cry, I don't get moved, but I respect it, I just don't get moved."
