Verisign Inc. Q1 Income Climbs 6%

Verisign Inc. (VRSN) released a profit for its first quarter that climbed from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $118.91 million, or $0.96 per share. This was higher than $112.26 million, or $0.85 per share, in last year's first quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.94 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 2.4% to $288.61 million. This was up from $281.88 million last year.
