Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington has reportedly died at the age of 41. TMZ reports that police found his body at a private residence in Palos Verdes Estates in L.A. County early Thursday morning. They also report that Bennington committed suicide by hanging.

Variety also reports that police have confirmed Bennington's death. They report that the case is currently under investigation by the L.A. County Coroner Office.

Bennington has struggled with drug and alcohol over the years. He was a close friend of late Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell, who recently died in a similar manner back in May. Bennington's body was discovered on July 20, which was also Cornell's birthday.

Fellow Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda stated, "Shocked and heartbroken, but it's true," on Twitter. "An official statement will come out as soon as we have one," he added.

Bennington is survived by his wife and his six children.
