Rihanna Helps Raise Over $2 Billion For Education

Rihanna was among a large number of celebrities who attended a fundraising conference for global education in Senegal over the weekend.

The Global Partnership for Education (GPE) conference in Senegal's capital Dakar on Friday was the largest ever education financing event, with more than 10 heads of state, 100 ministers, and 1,200 participants.

"We've made tremendous progress today but of course our work is never done. We have a long way to go. And this is a fight we're never going to stop fighting until every body and every girl has access to education," Rihanna told the audience.

She addressed the gathering on behalf of her Clara Lionel foundation, which works in impoverished nations to provide healthcare and education programs.

French president Emmanuel Macron, World Bank president Jim Yong Kim, and Malala Yousafzai, the global ambassador for Girls' education, also spoke on the occasion.

More than $2.3 billion was raised at the conference.
