Albemarle Corp Q4 Earnings Climb

Albemarle Corp (ALB) released a profit for its fourth quarter that advanced from last year.

The company said its bottom line climbed to $149.82 million, or $1.34 per share. This was higher than $88.83 million, or $0.78 per share, in last year's fourth quarter.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.21 per share, according figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company said revenue for the quarter rose 23.1% to $857.79 million. This was up from $696.66 million last year.
