Shania Twain Apologizes For Trump Support Comments

Shania Twain has issued an apology to anyone she may have offended after she made comments in support of President Donald Trump in a recent interview.

"I would have voted for him because, even though he was offensive, he seemed honest. Do you want straight or polite? Not that you shouldn't be able to have both. If I were voting, I just don't want bullshit," Twain said in in an interview with The Guardian, referring to the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

However, after her comments evoked a heavy backlash from her fans online, the 52-year-old country-music singer took to Twitter for damage control. The Canadian-born artist said she was caught off-guard by the question about the election and apologized to anybody she had offended.

As a Canadian, Twain cannot vote in US elections, but she went on to say that she is "passionately against discrimination" of any kind and that she does not share "any common moral beliefs" with Trump.
