Meek Mill debuted his new song "Stay Woke" at the 2018 BET Awards on Sunday night.

The Philadelphia rapper, who has become a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform, delivered a performance that touched heavily on police brutality, his own legal troubles and the plight of black people living in the ghetto.

"We scream 'Black Lives Matter' but we're still toting ladders / Watching our own brothers trying to get at us / Dreams get shattered when a scene full of crackers and they charge you with some shit you ain't do," Mill sings at the open of the track.

Mill was released from jail in April after five months of imprisonment for violating probation.

He took to the stage wearing a black sweatshirt that featured the faces of rappers XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo, who were shot to death in separate incidents last week.
