Sensex Up 155 Points On Global Cues; Nifty Rises Above 11,050

Indian shares opened higher on Friday to extend gains from the previous session as easing trade worries and earnings optimism helped investors shrug off mixed economic readings.

The benchmark BSE Sensex was up 155 points or 0.42 percent at 36,703 in early trade after climbing 0.8 percent the previous day. The broader Nifty index was up 31 points or 0.28 percent at 11,054.

Infosys rose 1.4 percent and Bajaj Corp rallied 2 percent ahead of their quarterly earnings due later today.

HCL Technologies dropped 1.5 percent after its board cleared share buyback up to 3.64 crore shares worth Rs 4,000 crore at Rs 1,100 per share.

Tata Communications gained 1 percent after it received NCLT approval for demerger of 773 acres surplus land from the company.

Allahabad Bank fell over 1 percent on reports it plans to divest stake in joint ventures and associate companies.
