Waste Connections Q2 adjusted earnings Beat Estimates

Waste Connections (WCN) released a profit for its second quarter that advanced from last year.

The company's bottom line came in at $138.68 million, or $0.52 per share. This compares with $123.66 million, or $0.47 per share, in last year's second quarter.

Excluding items, Waste Connections reported adjusted earnings of $172.34 million or $0.65 per share for the period.

Analysts had expected the company to earn $0.62 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.

The company's revenue for the quarter rose 5.1% to $1.24 billion from $1.18 billion last year.
