The Newport Folk Festival witnessed Jason Isbell and David Crosby duet a pair of Crosby, Stills & Nash classics Friday night.
"It is important for this generation of musicians to be connected to those 30 or 40 years ago who tried to change the world," Isbell told the crowd.
Isbell and Crosby, who have shared several stages before, joined at Newport after a gap of many years.
They enthralled the audience by playing "Wooden Ships" and "Ohio."
"Ohio" is a song written by Neil Young in protest against the 1970 Kent State Shootings.
"Wooden Ships" appeared on CSN's 1969 studio album.
Isbell also played tracks from his 2017 album, The Nashville Sound.
The Newport Folk Festival kicked off Friday at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, Rhode Island, and continued throughout the weekend. Performers included Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, Margo Price, Amanda Shires, Ben Harper & Charlie Musselwhite, The Wood Brothers, Lucius Jenny Lewis, Brandi Carlile, Lukas Nelson and Promise of the Real, Courtney Barnett, Colter Wall, and Gary Clark Jr.
