The Eagles' Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975 has become the best-selling album of all time.
Having sold 38 million copies, the Recording Industry Association of America has certified the 1976 production as 38x platinum.
The Greatest Hits album has moved past Michael Jackson's Thriller, which had sold 33 million.
In a double achievement for the Eagles, their 26x-platinum Hotel California has jumped to No. 3 on the all-time list following RIAA recertification.
As the title suggests, The Greatest Hits album features the best songs from the Eagles during the five year period between 1971 and 1975.
"We are grateful for our families, our management, our crew, the people at radio and, most of all, the loyal fans who have stuck with us through the ups and downs of 46 years. It's been quite a ride," Eagles founding member Don Henley said in a statement.
