The Swiss Stock Market Finished Virtually Unchanged

The Swiss stock market was stuck in a sideways pattern throughout Thursday's session and ended the day nearly unchanged. Traders were in a cautious mood ahead of policy statements from both the European Central Bank and the Bank of England, both of which left interest rates unchanged.

The Swiss Market Index decreased by 0.00 percent Thursday and finished at 8,960.08. The Swiss Leader Index climbed 0.07 percent, but the Swiss Performance Index lost 0.02 percent.

The index heavyweights all finished the day with small losses. Roche and Nestle slid 0.1 percent each and Novartis dipped 0.02 percent.

Swatch Group decreased 0.7 percent and rival Richemont lost 0.05 percent.

Givaudan was among the top performing stocks of the session, rising 0.8 percent. ABB advanced 0.6 percent, while Sika and Lafargeholcim gained 0.5 percent each.
