CAC 40 Rebounds As Trade Worries Ebb

French stocks were modestly higher on Friday as media reports suggesting the possibility of another round of talks between the United States and China helped ease market worries over the escalating tariff war that threatens to derail global economic growth.

Concerns about emerging markets also eased somewhat after Turkey's central bank raised its key interest rate sharply in a dramatic bid to control rocketing inflation and prevent a currency crisis.

The benchmark CAC 40 was up 14 points or 0.26 percent at 5,342 in opening deals after closing down 0.1 percent the previous day.

Automaker Renault jumped 2.2 percent while Peugeot edged up slightly as tariff worries eased.
