Jason Aldean Tributes Las Vegas Shooting Victims

Jason Aldean paid tribute to Route 91 victims and first responders at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on September 21, at Las Vegas, Nevada.

On October 1, 2017, a gunman opened fire on a crowd of country music fans at the Route 91 Harvest Festival killing 58 and injuring more than 500. Aldean was the artist performing onstage when the shooting occurred, one of the worst shooting incidents in the US history.

During the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Festival, organizers of the event spotlighted those first responders, including Vegas police officers, firefighters, and EMTs, in a video tribute and also invited some of them onstage with Aldean and radio DJ Bobby Bones.

"Being back in Vegas this close to the anniversary of it is, at times, a little weird," Aldean said. "In another sense, it's nice to be back. This is really our first performance we've had here since then. Tonight is going to be another step in getting through all that stuff."

"On behalf of myself, my family and my family in the country music community, I want to say thank you to the city of Las Vegas for your courage, strength and kindness," Aldean said from stage. "Tonight, we are all proud to be Vegas Strong."

This was Aldean's first concert in Vegas since the shooting incident, however, he had attended the 2018 Academy of Country Music Awards hosted in Vegas.
