Italy Industrial Production Growth At 8-month High

Italy's industrial production rebounded in August, growing at the fastest pace in eight months, preliminary data from the statistical office ISTAT showed on Wednesday.

The industrial production index rose a seasonally adjusted 1.7 percent from July, when it fell 1.6 percent.

The latest growth was the strongest since December 2017, when output rose 2 percent.

On a calendar-adjusted basis, industrial production decreased 0.8 percent year-on-year in August after a 1.3 percent decline in July. Production shrunk for a second straight month.

The unadjusted industrial production dropped 0.8 percent year-on-year after a 1.9 percent increase in July. Output fell for the first time since March.
