Hungary Unemployment Rate Unexpectedly Rises In September

Hungary's unemployment rate unexpectedly rose in the three months to September, preliminary data from the Hungarian Central Statistical Office showed on Tuesday.

The jobless rate for the 15-74 age group rose to 3.8 percent from 3.7 percent in the three months to August. The rate climbed for a second straight month.

A figure higher than this was seen last in the March quarter, when the rate was 3.9 percent.

The number of unemployed was 178,000 in the September quarter, which was 10,000 persons less than a year earlier.
