Freddie Mac Q3 Profit Surges - Quick Facts

Mortgage provider Freddie Mac (FMCC.OB) reported that its net income attributable to common shareholders for the third quarter of 2018 was $147 million or $0.05 per share, up sharply from $21 million or $0.01 per share in the year-ago period.

Comprehensive income for the quarter was $2.56 billion, down from $4.65 billion last year. According to the company, the comprehensive income for the quarter was driven by stable business revenues and strong credit quality.

Net interest income for the quarter was $3.26 billion, down from $3.49 billion in the same period last year. Non-interest income was $825 million, down sharply from $5.47 billion in the year-ago period.

Freddie Mac noted that a $2.6 billion dividend is required to be paid to the U.S. Treasury in December 2018, based on the company's net worth amount at September 30, 2018 of $5.6 billion less the applicable $3.0 billion Capital Reserve Amount.
