DMG Blockchain Energizes 60 MW Crypto Mining Facility In Canada

Canadian blockchain and cryptocurrency firm DMG Blockchain Solutions has energized one of the largest Bitcoin & crypto mining facilities in North America. The facility will start with 60 megawatts, and is expandable to its maximum capacity of 85 megawatts.

The 27,000 square foot crypto mining-as-a-service (MaaS) facility is built on 34 acres in British Columbia, Canada, dubbed as one of the largest such operations in North America. MaaS is the management of Bitcoin mining at scale on behalf of third party customers.

The green-powered crypto mining facility currently uses clean hydroelectric power. The facility uses power that is enough to power a city of 50,000 homes, but it is independent from the local community grid that powers the needs of the local community.

The power to the mining facility comes from the 85-megawatt capacity transformer and electrical substation which is installed by DMG Blockchain. It began the installation in July.

The deployment of DMG's new 85-megawatt substation will increase DMG's hosting capability by more than 20 times.

Canada has become an attractive option for setting up a crypto mining facility due to the abundance of hydroelectric power and low power costs, particularly in Western Canada where the DMG facility is located.

The crypto mine took nearly a year to complete and included building its own road, installing its own power substation, and creating many new job opportunities for rural communities.

In August, DPW Holdings announced that its Super Crypto Mining subsidiary will build and operate a co-located cryptocurrency mining farm using the power generated from the Valatie Falls hydroelectric dam in New York State, aiming to take advantage of low-cost, renewable energy.
