Easyjet: Court In Frankfurt Decides In Favor Of Airline.on Cancellation Charges

Easyjet (ESYJY.PK,EZJ.L) reported that the Higher Regional Court Frankfurt, in a trial initiated by the Wettbewerbszentrale, decided that the company does not have to reimburse taxes and fees to customers, on cancellation of flight. As per the judgement, Easyjet could apply British and Welsh law, which excludes reimbursement, even in the case of carriage contracts with German customers.

The complaint of the Wettbewerbszentrale had focused on taxes and charges, which in the event of cancellation do not arise for the airline.

Ride-hailing giant Uber Technologies has shut down a customer support office in downtown Los Angeles without providing advance notice to its staff and also laid off about 80 employees, the Los Angeles Times reported on Tuesday. Uber employees were informed their jobs would be shifted to a customer support office in Manila in order to support the business as it grows, the report said. The NextGen Consortium announced the launch of reusable cup pilots in local cafes in the City of San Francisco and City of Palo Alto, California.
