CarMax Remains Firmly Positive On Better Than Expected Q3 Earnings

After moving notably higher earlier in the session, shares of CarMax, Inc. (KMX) remain firmly in positive territory in afternoon trading on Friday. CarMax is currently up by 4.9 percent, bouncing off its lowest closing level in well over a year.

The advance by CarMax comes after the auto retailer reported fiscal third quarter earnings that exceeded analyst estimates.

CarMax reported third quarter earnings of $1.09 per share compared to analyst estimates for $1 per share, although its revenues of $4.30 billion came in slightly below expectations for $4.32 billion.

The European Union on Wednesday ordered Alphabet Inc.'s Google to pay an antitrust fine of 1.49 billion euros for abusing its dominant position in the online search advertising intermediation market by preventing competition. This is the third antitrust fine by the EU against Google and it represents 1.29 percent of the tech giant's turnover in 2018. Starting on April 16, all members of the Starbucks Rewards loyalty program will be able to earn and redeem Stars for Rewards immediately after they join the program.
