Arkansas Residents Can Get Temporary Oklahoma Marijuana License

Arkansas residents with valid medical marijuana licenses can receive a temporary medical marijuana adult license in Oklahoma.

According to the Oklahoma Medicinal Marijuana Authority, a medical marijuana temporary adult patient license allows an individual with a valid medical marijuana license from another state to legally buy, use, and grow medical marijuana and medical marijuana products in Oklahoma.

While residents of Arkansas will be able to cross state lines into Oklahoma to buy medical marijuana, they will not be able to bring it back.

The temporary license is valid for 30 days, but cannot exceed the expiration date of the out-of-state license. It can be renewed.

The Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority or OMMA said that as of December 31, 2018, it has received more than 33,000 patient licenses after voters authorized the use of medical marijuana in June 2018. More than 26,600 patient licenses have been approved.

However, KFSM reported that OMMA has said a letter of approval is not enough for an Arkansas patient to be accepted by them and that an actual patient license is required.

According to Arkansas health officials, more than 6,400 patients in the state have been approved for patient cards, but it was not clear if those cards have been issued.

Arkansas voters legalized medical marijuana in 2016, but it is still not available in the state.
