Ripple, a provider of enterprise blockchain solutions for payments, partnered with a Chinese university to launch Blockchain Technology Research Scholarship Program.

Institute for Fintech Research, Tsinghua University or THUIFR said the Blockchain Research Program will focus on international regulatory policies and the development of blockchain technology. The program for excellent graduate students in China in 2019 will be based on the research resources and achievements of THUIFR, with Ripple's support.

In the program, the students would be involved in cutting-edge research on global regulations and policies on blockchain technology. They would get the opportunities to participate in corporate visits and events.

Eric van Miltenburg, Ripple's SVP of Global Operations, noted that the program's goal - to provide students with opportunities in blockchain research - closely aligns with that of Ripple's University Blockchain Research Initiative or UBRI.

Ripple, with its initiative, has been collaborating with major universities around the world, aiming to boost research in blockchain, cryptocurrency and digital payments.

In June last year, Ripple announced a $50 million funding to 17 universities around the world, including MIT, the University of North Carolina, and the University of Pennsylvania for blockchain research. According to Ripple, the initiative reflects a surge in demand for jobs related to blockchain/ cryptocurrency.

In Europe, UBRI helps Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands and the University of Luxembourg to build a new blockchain research program.
