Australia Import Prices Rise 0.5% In Q4; Export Prices +4.4%

Import prices in Australia were up 0.5 percent on quarter in the fourth quarter of 2018, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday.

That beat forecasts for an increase of 0.3 percent following the 1.9 percent jump in the three months prior.

Export prices spiked 4.4 percent on quarter - again exceeding expectations for a gain of 2.7 percent following the 3.7 percent advance in the third quarter.

On a yearly basis, import prices surged 7.8 percent, while export prices soared 15.7 percent.
