McDonald's To Add McCafe Donut Sticks To Breakfast Menu

McDonald's Corp. (MCD) said Monday that it will introduce the McCafe Donut Sticks to its breakfast menu for a limited time. McCafé Donut Sticks is the first sweet treat to be offered by the fast-food giant exclusively at breakfast.

Starting February 20 and for a limited time, customers can enjoy the combo of Donut Sticks and McCafé coffee during breakfast hours at participating restaurants nationwide.

According to McDonald's, Donut Sticks are made fresh throughout the morning, prepared in the company's restaurant kitchens until hot, crispy and golden brown for a light and airy texture, and are never microwaved. They are sprinkled with cinnamon sugar for a crunchy outside and soft, doughy inside, and served warm to customers.

"We are proud of our breakfast offerings, and excited to share new Donut Sticks with our customers. Donut Sticks are the perfect complement to our existing breakfast lineup, and pair deliciously with our fresh brewed premium roast McCafé coffee," said Linda VanGosen, McDonald's Vice President of Menu Innovation.

McDonald's initially tested the Donut Sticks in select Illinois restaurants in early 2018, and later again in October 2018. The company said it was critical that the Donut Sticks were perfected before it was launched nationwide.

The company noted that customers can also pair a half-dozen Donut Sticks and a small McCafé brewed coffee for a special price at participating restaurants.

McDonald's said it is continuing to innovate its McCafé line with beverages and bakery items. The company has tested premium bakery items like Muffin Toppers and Coffee Cakes in some of its restaurants.

In recent years, McDonald's has refocused on breakfast to deliver more options inspired by its customers - from All Day Breakfast, to Triple Breakfast Stacks, to McCafé Donut Sticks.

Last October, McDonald's said it is adding new items to its breakfast menu for the first time in more than a decade, as part of the company's efforts to deal with slowing U.S. sales. The company added Triple Breakfast Stacks to its menu in November.
