The O'Jays Release New Single From Final Studio Album

The O'Jays have shared a new single from their upcoming album The Last Word.

The Last Word, the legendary soul group's first album in 15 years, will also be their last, the band says.

The O'Jays' Walter Williams says the song "I Got You" offers a message of reassurance in a time of political tumult.

"Even if the sky begins to fall, and even if they try to build that wall, and even if the bomb goes off and the world is set on fire, I got your back," the group sings in the single.

"It's almost gospel," according to the R&B group's co-founder. "It's good news. Whatever happens, don't worry about it — I'm gonna be there."

"That's a hell of a statement. It works in a friendship; it works certainly in a relationship," Williams added.

The Last Word is scheduled to release on April 19.
