India To Host Blockchain Summit This Week

Organized by Blockchain technology company Auxesis, the "Blockchain Summit India 2019" will be held on February 22 and 23 in the north Indian IT hub of Noida.

The event, first of its kind, is supported by the Indian government's Department of Science and Technology and the north Indian State of Uttar Pradesh.

"The summit is targeted towards enabling Indian government and ministries to speed up the process of developing a flourished blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem," the organizers said on its website.

Ministers, academic experts, blockchain giants, and corporate leaders are taking part in the event.

Union ministers Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and Suresh Prabhu, Alok Sinha, Secretary, IT Department, UP Government, and Kumar Gaurav, Chairman, Auxesis Group, will deliver the keynote address on various sessions.

The agenda also includes corporate presentations and panel discussions on cryptocurrency and blockchain related topics.

An expo to showcase and network with world's top Blockchain companies, Indian startups and corporates indulged in Blockchain landscape also has been organized.

As part of the summit, an event titled "Pitch Stop" will bring the best of tech startups on one platform to pitch for investment from top investors.

While the popularity of cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin is rising in India, the blockchain technology is supporting a number of applications ranging from monetary transactions to legal documentation.

India's Ministry of Finance is reportedly drafting a regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies.

Currently, Indians cannot avail the services of the country's banks to purchase and sell cryptocurrencies after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) slapped a ban on banks providing services to investors in digital currencies.
