Samsung SDS, Tech Mahindra To Collaborate On Nexledger Blockchain Platform

Samsung SDS, the IT unit of South Korean conglomerate Samsung, announced a tie-up with Indian technology firm Tech Mahindra on Nexledger blockchain platform.

Under the deal, the Indian provider of digital transformation, consulting and business reengineering services and solutions will offer Nexledger, which was launched in 2017 by Samsung SDS, in the markets in India and worldwide.

The companies consider Blockchain as a strong focus area in 2019 and will leverage each other's strengths in various geographies.

According to Samsung, the platform is flexible and scalable, and has the ability to deliver wide spectrum of customizable use case application services.

With the platform, the developers can choose from various blockchain core technologies and consensus algorithms such as Nexledger Consensus Algorithm or NCA, Hyperledger Fabric and Ethereum.

Since its launch, Nexledger has been used in the real business, specifically, in the financial, logistics, and public sector, the company said.

Rajesh Dhuddu, Global Practice Leader - Blockchain at Tech Mahindra, said, "This partnership will also enhance our reach in Korean, India and other APAC markets, maximise the joint offerings through a combination of respective platforms, Tech Mahindra's System Integration skills and Innovation centres in India."

Earlier, Samsung SDS had joined with Dutch bank ABN AMRO and Port of Rotterdam Authority for a trial project that applies blockchain to shipping and logistics business.
