Khalid's Free Spirit debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, earning the "Eastside" singer his first number 1 on the chart.
Free Spirit dropped on April 5 through Right Hand/RCA Records. According to Nielsen Music, the album earned 202,000 equivalent album units in the week ending April 11.
It was the fourth-largest week of 2019 for an album. Of that sum, 85,000 were in traditional album sales.
Billboard says Free Spirit is the first R&B album to reach No. 1 in nearly a year. The Weeknd's My Dear Melancholy EP was last R&B album to reach the top position on April 14, 2018.
Of Free Spirit's opening-week unit sum, 111,000 were in SEA units, 85,000 were in album sales and 6,000 were in TEA units.
